1)so first of leave your main guy in clothes with spawn set to last location
2)switch to your 2nd char and have them buy a piece of clothing
3)dashboard and delete the dlc Independence Day
4)load up the game and remember to press A
5)after you install the dlc enter the game and switch char to your main
6)when you load up you will receive the item its all random so sometimes you will get the same one
also if you need the rockstar tshirt i can give it you all you need to do is shoot someone with a Gusenberg Sweeper

Does the hat actually stay, though? I believe that once you leave the game, the hat disappears.
