Alright so I've had the current PC that I'm using to type this for about 4 years now. Every time i play a game such as DayZ,Team Fortress 2,DC Universe Online, etc. (By the way these are games that i have just noticed the problem with). The problem I am having is that when i try to run these games my PC freezes and goes to a blank colored screen which then i have no control over my PC once that happens, and i have to do a hard shut down for my PC to turn off (meaning i have to hold in the power button until it shuts down). I've tried everything to fix this problem and I've come to a conclusion that it must be a bad part or the PC itself. If anyone could help me or has any suggestions or ideas to fix this problem i would greatly appreciate it.

It could be a driver that needs updating or the graphics card failing. It might be overheating when you try to play those games and that's why it freezes.

Well it could be a number of things causing this problem. I had a similar problem with SR3 and RO2, Not sure if it was exactly what happened to you, but mine wouldn't freeze. It would actually Black screen with the menu sounds on and i would have to Tab+Alt to get out of it. If you have something along the lines of that then its quite easy to fix. Just keep reading down towards the end.

Here are some Solutions that might help you out:
Your Video or GPU(Graphics Card) might be out of date. Since you mentioned that it was a 4 Y/o computer, it might need a Update. You can Update your GPU if you have steam by clicking the Steam Tab at the top left hand corner.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Then click on the "Check for Video Driver updates" and see if it needs an update.

If thats not the case then you might need to update some of your Drivers on your computer. Head over to your Device Manager from the Control Panel of your computer. hopefully your using Windows. It should look something like this Start menu>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Device Manager. "Device Manager" will be at the top where the Device tab is.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now click the little arrow near Display Adapters(My GPU is a Bit out of date but has no problems running my games in HD or so). There you will see your GPU, Right click and Update drivers software. Scan it and see if its up-to-date.

Thirdly you can Try this trick. This has worked for me countless of times. Its Manually changing the Resolution of a game. This fixes Black Screens most of the time. Find the directory of the game. There should be a config file with all the options in it.(It might be in your steam>Steam apps>common>[name of game]>Config>settings if your using Steam)Keep in mind that ALL games are different. It should be in the folder where your game is located. From there all you have to do is find and change your "Resolution" it should be somewhere at the bottom and say "Res X and Res Y" to about 800 X 600 Now this might help you out and solve your problem with the Black screen. Remember to save and don't change anything else.

If all else fails then it might be time to upgrade some of your PCs hardware. Or you can Call a PC tech and explain to him what is happening. But me mindful that they might try to get you to buy a New PC or Buy the most expensive piece when it could be a easy fix. So call a few around your local area. Also some might want you to take it in for them to see.

Hope you find at least some of this helpful, and good luck with the fix

My first impression would be the drivers or the out of date chip set for your GPU otherwise take a look inside and check for dust and give it a good clean around the GPU and if it has a fan built in clean that well.

What the **** is wrong with you that's completely unnecessary dude. Just roll back any drivers that you've recently installed.
