Ok so im on windows 8 right now and i want to get windows 7 so im gonna get it for "free" but how do i make it so i wont lose all my stuff on my computer when i switch over to windows 7?
And what windows 7 should i get???

You will need to save your files somewhere.
If im doing a fresh install and dont have any external drives with me, I simply partition the drive I have

I don't know if its backwards compatable.
Upgrade to windows 8.1 and stay with that.
Trust me its better than windows 7 it just takes a while to get used to.

Save your files somewhere online like skydrive, put all your files there, but it will take hours. or make a backup cd

The title was pretty misleading lol, I thought you were going to say that Windows 8 is 'more than' (better) Windows 7. 1234((
To answer your question, i'd just back up all the files i'd want to keep on a portable hard drive or USB flash drive and then re-install windows with the new OS.
The best version of Windows 7 is called 'ultimate', but you probably wouldn't need all of its features. Home premium is fine for the majority of people.
