All microtransactions do is provide a way for lazy players who don't want to put the effort into playing the game for its challenge to short circuit the game progression and get the cool stuff without trying or having to earn it.

Alternatively they allow companies like EA to dump out half finished garbage and then charge people extra money to get the complete game they already paid for.

I like the idea, of paying monthly, a lot more then having to pay for microtransactions.

I think the key difference is whether the free-to-play games allow the microtransations to be able to make you an all-singing, all-dancing thing whereas basic, free members are basically peasants compared.

This is one of the reasons I like playing League of Legends... It is a free to play game but everything that you need must be bought by PLAYING the game (With the partial exception of rune pages and small XP/IP boosts - they still require you to play the game but do not give any advantage in-game). Everyone must play the game to get the better stuff which is how I think most games should work. If you have put the extra time and effort in, you should be rewarded for doing so.. Not just because mummy and daddy gave you a fat wad of cash for sitting on your backside all day long.

I don't mind Pay-To-Play games (Such as World of Warcraft) but the quality of them must be highly superior as you end up paying for more than you would on a standard game (About 40GBP). They aren't really my kind of game though.

Free To Play Will always be on top with income as they give you a game to play completely free, get you hooked then tease you with ingame stuff to buy with real life money and at the time it feels so cheap and that your not actually spending money.

I'm fine with both pay to play and free to play. What irritates me is pay to win.

F2P is where the industry has gone to. Mainly because people don't want everything that's offered and it isn't required to spend money. You can ear most things in a game to be good, but you can also buy DLC to try new stuff in an attempt to be better than others.
