I'm 15 and I am getting my license in October, my limit for a vehicle is 40k. I need something that is all wheel or four wheel drive. Anyone have any advice? I am considering a Jeep of some sort.

For being as young as you are there no need to spend that kind of money on a car. Get something around 10k ( a jeep like you said) then you have money to keep aside or for upgrading things. It's almost a joke to but brand new because as soon as you drive it off the lot it loses about 2-5k. Dealerships want to make you pay top dollar , taxes that come with a new car or one that's 40k would just be stupid to pay let alone insurance for that car.

Spend your money smart ( or your parents money for that matter) and but something cheap but not a junker.

I'd probably get a sedan or something. Driving a huge car right away can be hassle when you park and vice versa. I would try to avoid German cars as much as possible since they are a pain to take care of. Otherwise, foreign makes such as Honda and Toyota can be suitable. Do you live in weather conditions that require AWD? There's no point of having it unless you need it. It's a hassle for fuel economy and so much unneeded power.

40k budget for your first car is awesome, I haven't come with cars to show you but to stand up for you in you choice of 40k for a first car.

Why do people need whine about how much a person spends on their first car?
For all we know, this person comes from a fairly wealthy family, or has saved for a long time and his passion might be in a car.
I don't even haver my Ps yet, and I am upgrading from a 13k car to a 25k car.
Work hard, you benefit.
I do suggest you pay about $35k for the car itself, and have the 5k aside for things like insurance, registration and a personalised number player, petrol too.

Let him get what he wants, just because he will only be on his Ls doesn't mean he's a bad driver.. I've been on my Ls for 6 months and never had any problems with crashes or anything.

Why come here to point out it's stupid to get a car for x amount of money, he asked for you help don't criticise him for his choices, either help him or don't bother posting.
Sure, you could say why did I bother posting if I didn't help him with choosing cars, though I stuck up for him because people don't understand that he can do what he wants with his money, don't worry about the amount, just help and if you don't have any suggestions for him don't bother commenting at all.

I find it very funny how you guys are hating on him for having 40k to spend on his first car. Guess what? You don't know his story. He could have coughed up 15k and his parents are giving him the rest. And for those of you who have seen my STi, that car is my first car and I got it when I was 16. (My birthday just passed and now I'm 17) I paid for 12k of it and my parents covered the rest. And yes, I paid off my share of 12k. I also cover my monthly insurance and weekly gas. So please, go hate on my post now.

Good for you Umbrella for having a large budget. Gives you a lot more options. Don't listen to the kids saying its ridiculous. You're very lucky. Some families just really enjoy their cars like mine and trust their kids with nice cars.

Jeeps are very nice but will eat you alive on gas, just keep that in mind! If you're really only set on bigger cars, try looking at some trucks too. I'm a ford fan so the f-150's are pretty nice. If you would consider a sedan or hatchback, of course, I'm gonna say how great Subaru is but that's up to you. With a large budget, be sure to do a lot of research.

Obviously you didn't read my whole thing....

I was 15 at the time when i saved up the 12k.

So please sir, you get real. It's very possible. And no, I'm not a drug dealer or anything. Insurance on my 2014 STi is only $100 a month. A jeep is gonna be more but really not that awful. Some people like cars more than you do so they put more of there money into them.

Well it all depends on what car you like, me i love preformance type cars, for street drags etc and too look cool as shittt.

Maybe got with a Subaru, or what i'd go for if i had 40k would be a Nissan 350z ;)

But dont spend it all, you do need money for insurance etc etc.
