I have an elgato and i would highly recommend it. It's a fantastic console and it really works well.

If you don't have a great laptop I'd say get the HD-PVR 2 as the Elgato uses more PC resources and could result in your recordings jumping due to computer lag.

I would suggest getting the Elgato. I got it last week and it's great and so is the program that you download off their website.

I had the HD PVR and the bad thing about it is that it doesn't support HDMI cables, it only supports component cables (Red, blue, green, white).

The HD PVR 2 does support HDMI though.
