No ssd? Save yourself some money and don't get the asus maximus unless you really need it. It is a great motherboard, but there are cheaper motherboards out that there that perform at about the same level. Also the case, it is about as big as they come, in which you don't need that much room unless you are planning on using all of it's features. Like 4-way SLI, A lot of fans. It is just really big and bulky. (that's what she said). Other than that, nothing else i would change.

If your spending 2K on a build, you should at least incorporate an SSD in there.

Honestly, with a 2K budget you can make a killer pc... Or should I say over-killer hahaha... Yeah, anyway here is the build I came up with, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4670k, water-cooling, dual 780's, 16GB memory, 1TB storage. And if you hit those rebates, you'll have some money left over to put an SSD in there, if that's a must have for some reason. Good luck with whatever you decide, hopefully the community has put you in the right direction.

I think the choice for an OS is up to the user. It has been found though that Windows 8.1 has a slight FPS increase compared to Windows 7

Nzxt Phantom 410 Gaming Case (black)
-I7 4770k
-Gtx 780 Superclock Edition
-Overclock 20%
-850w power supply
-16gb RAM
-Gigabyte GA-z87x-OC force
-2TB HDD
-Corsair Hydro Series H60 Liquid CPU Cooling

That will be around $2,100.
