Okay so here's the deal. I've never used Illustrator, only Photoshop. I know Photoshop is a pixel based program and Illustrator has the ability to make vector images that don't pixel-ate when enlarged. I have made a logo in Photoshop that is already finished, it's colored, and already a PNG. What I want to do is put that Photoshop file into Illustrator, and trace the logo so it's a vector. My problem is when I export it as a PNG there's always a white background around it. How can I get rid of the background and only have the logo traced as a vector?

Thanks in advance!

Do you trace it with the pen tool? Or do you use image trace? Image trace will leave a white "background", which I think you can uncheck if you expand the ^advanced in the image trace panel. Or you can ungroup the logo(ctrl+shift+g), select and delete the white part.

However I would not recommend to use the image trace to trace stuff if you are new to illustrator. Do it properly and use the pen tool/shapes.

Try and use the Quick/Magic wand tools. Then create "Work Path at 2.0" then export paths to illustrator, then colour there?

if none of this works for you, i'm pretty sure you could get rid of the white background if you open up the image in photoshop and click on it with the tool "magic eraser". hopefully you get rid of it!

Or if there is no white in the logo itself he could change the blending sliders?

Anyway, if you still have the PSD file just delete the background so it is transparent?

Here's a screenshot of the logo itself. As you can see it's quite pix elated and I want to put it into Illustrator to make it smooth so I can expand it without losing quality also keeping the background transparent.

EDIT: That's the PSD file, When it goes into Illustrator the transparent background turns white. BTW I'm using CS6 (Both programs)
