Yeah, I actually think the only way is to restore unless you have another device where you haven't played clash of clans yet, and then link from that device to your current one.
Because when I tried to make a new gamecenter/appleid, it just came on the old base when I wasn't even logged on that one.
I even tried to delete the game, didn't work that either.
