Video games in my opinion comes with two different states.
The body of the game ((How it looks))and the engine ((What is the actual gameplay))
For example minecraft has bad graphics but it covers A LOT of ground when it comes to the game play, especially if you play with mods. An other example is COD, it has ok graphics but game play has been worn into the ground.
What do you want to play? A game with great graphics and ok to poor game play or a lower graphic game with a lot to offer game play wise.

A video game for me is if the storyline flows well, characters are well developed and it lasts a good while unlike the Cod campaigns that last for like 5 hours
