(CNN) -- Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the boss of one of Mexico's most powerful drug trafficking operations, was arrested in Mexico, a U.S. official told CNN Saturday.
The official said Guzman, accompanied by a female, was captured in a joint operation with Mexican marines and Drug Enforcement Administration authorities overnight at a hotel in the beach resort of Mazatln.
The operation had been in the works for four or five weeks, the official said.

this wont stop drug trafficking

someone is just gonna take over and do the same thing like chapo like he did when he took over

the only way to stop drug trafficking in mexico is for USA to send some troops cause our govt in mexico are corrupt like every other police and soldiers

That still wouldn't stop it. The only way to completely stop it would be to legalize drugs here and I think we both know that'll never happen so tafficking won't either.

I find it really amazing that someone at the head of an illegal organization can be considered one of the most powerful men in the world when he is the one running from the other most powerful men at the head of national governments.
If an illegal drug trafficker can become one of the worlds most powerful men, imagine what a legalized and well regulated(and taxed) system could do. This single mans net worth was at a billion dollars, if not more. That's with a B. The government is really missing out on their share if you ask me but I digress.

His capture is so long overdue that this news is great. Of course someone else will fill his place but El Chapo needs to be brought to a real justice system where he cant escape on a laundry truck.
Also the Sinaloa cartel's leaders have been getting picked off one by one, El chapo is one of the remaining few in the "inner circle" you could say.
The Sinaloa Cartel is slowly being dismantled.

This is great news and long overdue.

I laugh at everyone saying "He will be out in 5 minutes".
No he will not.

They would execute him before letting him escape again.

This is Crazy. He does have some connections so there may be a possibility he will get out again, then again he could already be dead.

"This won't stop drug trafficking."

OBVIOUSLY.
That is like saying that arresting a murderer will stop murders from being committed.
