in my opinion it has to be Steven Gerard who has been playing for Liverpool since 1987.
what is your opinion?

Gerrard is a mainstay and definitely has some loyalty, a great servant for his club but I think you're nearly forgetting he left for Chelsea a few years ago, so for me he isn't the most loyal, but he is up there.

I think a football player should epitomise what their club is about, while showing their loyalty on and off the pitch. They don't need to have been a one club man, but I think players who grew up supporting these clubs and live in that area where the club is and have came through the ranks are the most loyal players.

There are a few who spring to mind - Totti, Maldini, Giggs, Carragher, Tony Adams and for the best - Paul Scholes.

Scholes didn't have an agent, such was his loyalty to the club. One quote which sticks in my mind is when the Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said "We tried really hard to sign Paul Scholes, we gave United a blank cheque, we talked to him, his reply for short and simple, If you want me to play for you, youd have to buy this club. One of a kind, he didnt have an agent, so it was hard enough.

A true professional on and off the field, and someone who wasn't and still isn't after the footballing, celebrity spotlight. If more players were like him, the game would be a lot better.

Very well put together reply and I agree with everything you said but you forgot about someone.......Matt Le Tissier, he played for Southampton his whole career because he supported the club, he could of played for any team in the world but decided to stay with them.....that's loyalty right there.
