Could you guys tell me whether an R9 280x would run BF4 at a locked 60+FPS (ultra) and if not what is the cheapest GPU to go with that does.

You'll get an average fps of around 50. Which is good seeming though battlefield 4 is a very demanding game.
When they birng out new drivers the fps you get should increase slighly

That's not entirely true, i used V-Sync on BF4 and it locks the FPS at 60, sometime it goes down to 55 but only when playing Multiplayer when a building falls down. And i have a 270X.
The 280X will max BF4 and keep a 60FPS easily, it's an awesome card. mantle will give it an extra boost too.

Reconsidering getting a Nvidia gpu because of Mantle, who knows until it's fully worked out and released though!;D

Thanks for the replies. I'll stick with the 280x then.

Truth- wroteI'm sure it won't make the cards worse in any way, and even if it does you can just rollback the drivers or game update, so I wouldn't not get a R7/R9 card just for that reason. mantle will give the 280X a significant advantage over the GTX 770 in certain games.Craig- wrote That's not entirely true, i used V-Sync on BF4 and it locks the FPS at 60, sometime it goes down to 55 but only when playing Multiplayer when a building falls down.
