Wondering what i should upgrade this year. Can spend about 300$.

Get fx 6300. An r9 270x. Instead of buying that prebuilt build one.

It's not as simple as that because they'll need new mobo/cpu cooler as well.

By the sounds of it he is upgrading not building.
You should upgrade your CPU to an AMD FX 6300 and upgrade your GPU to an AMD R9 270X.
Just my suggestion, you should wait for Buxty to come along
EDIT: For MoBo get a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 for around 40 GBP

If you already have the system, you could look at an SSD for faster boot times, more storage in general, better graphical performance or a faster processor. The latter will blow most of the budget in one go though.
