Most of you people are taking the side of the police and saying that they did the right thing and that if the 13 year old boy was carrying a real gun the police officers would have died. First off all, unless this 13 year old kid is a ****** child bodybuilder I'm 99.9 percent positive that he wouldn't be able to shoot a rifle like that, let alone shoot one accurately because of the force in the kick it has. Second of all, most if not all cops wear bullet proof vests. Not saying they cant get shot in the face but there's a slim chance that would happen. And Third, If there was a video of this incident taking place, I can guarantee that both cops took cover behind the cop car. If you really think this 13 kid is some type of sharp shooter that he could just pick these cops off that fast you guys are absolutely insane. If this boy was your brother most if not all of you would think of this situation differently.

Im fully on the side of the Kid, However I blame the parents or him partly for even having the gun out in Public.

The parents probably shouldnt have let him walk around with a gun (even if it isnt a "real" gun) but the cop could have looked into it more.

I take the side of the officers on this. First its not hard to shoot an AK. It looked realistic almost the exact same as the real deal and just because the officers were wearing a vest doesn't mean anything. Vest are good against small caliber rounds and shrapnel not the AK's 7.62x39mm which can go through a engine block.

Not all of them and most of the time kids will either remove them or paint them black.

They are supposed to, but I think some kids take them off because it's "cooler". IMO the cops didn't do anything wrong, assuming they told the kid to put down his gun multiple times.

Having a replica or toy gun without an orange tip is a no-no in public. So the officers shooting for their safety, is 100% acceptable. The questions I would ask are: Why did he have a toy assault rifle on a public street? Why didn't he listen to the officers to put the gun down?
These officers deserve no flack, they were doing what they were trained for. They told the boy to put his gun down and turn around. So what does the boy do? He turns around without putting the gun down, that's a valid reason to shoot.

Did you ever think that maybe the kid didn't hear them and was seeing who was talking?

I do that all of the time. (I'm deaf, but have cochlear implants so i'm hard-of-hearing)
