Burtonnnnnnnnnn wrote Honestly, No. I wouldn't let my kid if I had one anyway that's dumb you're 14 your dad should go with you and him carry the gun because there has been a lotttt of deaths due to young people who think they know what they're doing and even if you do know you can still mess up with one i'd say you're too young to carry a gun better learn how to climb a tree, run fast or bring your dad along.. Btw i'm not saying an adult can't mess up with a gun anything can happen but I think it'd be more safe for your dad to carry it around then you

Because responsibility is a bad thing, right? Age doesn't determine how well you practice gun safety. At 16, you get to use a much more dangerous weapon, a car.

Well it depends on what state you live in. In states like Arizona 14 year olds can carry a gun if they are "engaged in lawful hunting or shooting events or marksmanship practice at established ranges or other areas where the discharge of a firearm is not prohibited"

Considering that you live in the backwoods and there are mountain lions out there I would definitely carry a weapon! Why haven't you? :/

Ok, A .22 would piss an animal off even more...You would want some kind of shot gun such as a 20 gauge or even a 12 with Buck shot or slugs...I would say as long as you have taken Gun safety Classes, and you know what you are doing, Then go ahead.

I would not recommend a .22

LOL REALLY? Ask yourself this..(EVERYONE WHO READS) Would you be more scared to let your "14" year old KID carry a gun around or let him drive? You're taught to do both carry a gun and drive a car.. My opinion driving a car isn't dangerous if you're paying attention not speeding and aren't doing something you're not supposed to be doing while driving.. Yes there is drunk drivers and they're dangerous but the chances of a car wreck killing you to a gun killing you, to even compare that is stupid 14 is a young age to carry a gun! In 2010 a total of 31,672 people were killed to a fire arm incident you may not think that's a lot considering there is millions probably billions of people in the world but what if one of them 31,672 was your kid? & honestly I think society is getting dumber every minute he asked for opinions so he got one and your opinion is quite stupid you could have just said you thought it was fine I feel sorry for your kids or future kids.. As they probably do/will think its fun and awesome that you're a such a cool parent because most parents aren't as dumb as you.

Start them at a young age so they can be responsible. Yeah, my kids are going to be shooters from the day they can shoot a .22 rifle on a bench. The problem is that people with mindsets like yours think it's best to grow up in a world with pillows taped to the walls.

You can pull up random statistics that aren't correct or relevant, it's not going to change anything. You can twist gun stats any way you want.

Closing this topic because OP didn't ask for a gun argument, but he's getting one and you just took it too far. If you want to vent, PM me and don't call other members names.
