So, I'm looking to get a laptop but the UK ones are pretty abysmal, so, I've decided I want to buy an American one. (Acer V5-552G-X414 to be precise, as it's not sold in the UK! And because I just like it.)

A couple of questions first though, best to be careful, eh?

- What about using a UK card for Steam, or having a UK Steam in general, will it work on a US laptop, is there a way to get it working if not?

- What about shipping? Will it be fine for a US seller to send items to the UK or will customs get picky and not let it happen?

I know it'll have a US keyboard, I'll just have to adapt to it as it doesn't bother me. I'm also aware I'll need a UK plug adapter, and possibly a transformer?

If you can think of anything else that could be an issue let me know, please! Thanks.

The region you are in wont matter for anything so as long as the service is provided to the UK it will work fine.

Shipping will be fine but possibly expensive.

You will need a US to UK plug converter and the the DC adapter will need to accept a 240v 50Hz AC input(it most likely will)
If it does not then you will need to buy one that will.

Thank you! + repped / rep'ed (What the...?) you!

The shipping cost doesn't bother me as it's still going to be within my budget. (Or it should be, will have to be very expensive shipping...)

Here's another thing for someone to answer, please. What's the VAT value? I know, or I'm lead to believe, that VAT isn't taken into account on prices on US websites as they have income tax, so what would it be for a foreign buyer? Or would it still just not be accounted for?

I'm not really into VAT and business and all 'that' stuff!

The RAM of the PC will be useable, but the Time, Date, Month, ect ect will be in their own setting.

yeah i had this idea then took these into consideration the laptop i wanted was 2500usd so about 1500gbp it would cost 350usd just to get the thing in the uk. Then my next concern was what if it broke and i had to pay that fee again to get it back after it was repaired. In the end i got the same spec machine from a uk website little more expensive about 1750gbp but less potential issues in the long run
