It is very unclear what you are trying to do in my opinion.
The title asks for wifi help, but you clearly state that you are connected via wired to a modem. Wifi is wireless communications using a wireless router, very very few modems have built in wifi support, and even if yours does, plugging in an ethernet cable completely nullifies any use for wifi.

If you are just wanting to see your "network information" as you say, it depends what you want to see.

If you want to see your IP Address:
Start button -> run -> cmd (Start Menu/Tile Menu, type in cmd for Windows 8)
Type in "ipconfig" without quotes, hit enter.
It will be listed under "IPv4 Address"

If you are directly connected to your modem with no router at all, you technically don't have a real "network" in cross-computer terms, as you are directly connected to the internet. You still can see what "network" names are and the like by going to Control Panel -> Classic View -> Network and Sharing Center.

If neitehr of these are what you're wanting help with, then please be more detailed in what's going on.
