1. Cut back frayed cables.

2. Expose wires by carefully cutting away heatshrink. An inch or so should be enough, but I would cut the big wire sleeve further back to make working with individual wires easier.

2. Separate the different wires inside the cable. I'm not talking about individual copper strands.

3. Twist the two ends of each wire together and cover the joined area with electrical tape.

DiscretionalHD wrote just tie the ends together and wrap it in electrical tape.
I did that.I just twisted them together and flattened it then wrapped it in electrical tape. If you could link me someone that would help alot!

That won't work because it's a number of wires inside a single cable. I'd imagine that there would be two for the headphones and two for the mic.

Another method to soldering which is very hard I don't recommend it unless you are very skilled st soldering is
Take a knife put it above a gas stove until it is practically red hot and use that as it was a soldering iron but BE VERY CAREFUL as that could potentially give you very bad burns as I said before I DONT RECOMMEND IT hope I helped

Doubt it. You'd end up with the following.

1. A burnt hand
2. A ruined knife
3. Copper melted to the tip of the knife
4. A shoddy and messy job
5. Half an hour wasted
