Flashed consoles can connect and play online fine. It's all about how smart you are with the console. Playing games early is one fine way to get yourself noticed. You will not only need tools to flash your console, but you will also need to buy yourself a special burner to actually be able to burn XDG3 games!
I recommend you visit a site more suited to what you are after such as xbox360iso.

Not all drives need extra tools.
BurnerMAX lets you use a lot of different drives to burn games, OP probably has one.

If you don't want your console banned then don't flash it. I've learned after being around and doing mods for like 4 years, that it basically comes down to luck.

Some people won't ever be banned for a flashed console, while others may just be found right away and instantly banned. Being smart helps about what you do is really important, but you may still be caught.

I would just buy some console that's old and cheap, flash that, and then you can do whatever you want without the worry of a ban.

You dont have to have a flashed console to get banned for modding games. Playing games on a flashed console is one thing but having a flashed console and modding at the same time puts in Microsoft bulls eye
