Put it down to personal preference.

In terms of aesthetics, sure. But when in comes down to raw performance for the dollar, you're not going to beat an Hyper 212 / Enermax equivalent or a D14. The only time that a closed loop liquid cooling solution would be an O.K option is if you were to get a REALLY good deal on it or have a very small M-ATX or M-ITX system where putting an air cooling heatsink is physically not possible.

*looks at benchmarks* *H80i on maximum wins against EVERY tested air cooler* *dont say noise because it would still most likely win on Performance mode which is quieter*

The main 2 air coolers that are pretty much on par with the likes of the H80i are the Phanteks PH-wotsylongname and the Noctua NH-D14. These are both HUGE and UGLY. The H80i is a sexy looking beast and performs.

Show me benchmarks from a reputable source that directly indicates and proves that an H80i which is a 120mm rad beats an Noctua NH-D14.

Aesthetics are up to personal opinion so say it looks sexier is meaningless.

I don't use my computer looking into my case. Just ask R00t for an image of his build, then tell me it looks ugly.

Performs on par with an H100, yet is 15 decibel quieter.

I can find more if you want. The Phanteks and Noctua constantly beat the H80i, and for sacrificing a few degrees for more money in my pocket and less noise, I'd get the Phanteks/Noctua EVERY time.

I think we can all agree that Noctuas are ugly as sin, and lets face it: I know looks are entirely subjective, but most people prefer the sleek black square and multicoloured LED on the H80i than the finned brick of metal you get with the Phanteks (regardless of colour).
