Hi guys,

I was just given a laptop running Windows 7 that is currently stuck in repair loop. I've tried booting in to safe mode however that produces the same results. Repair can not find a solution to the problem either. I followed this tut: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] however that was no use either. I've done the things I can think of, does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks, +rep for useful help

Based on the make of your computer (Dell, HP, etc) you will either need the recovery disc that came with the computer or use the Windows disc. Some manufactures make it easy just to reboot and do it.

From my experience, use a Windows 7 disc and then use that to repair Windows. Something is already wrong with the installed Windows so the disc only makes sense recovery or Windows. You may or my not need to recover completely, it just depends on what's happening.

Just PM me if you need anymore help

Use another computer to create a bootable Windows USB. Download an illegal copy of Windows, create the bootable USB, change BIOS to run from USB and complete installation.

You can then verify the version of Windows you downloaded using the product key with is usually on a sticker on the laptop somewhere.

To create boot-able USBs, which I have made a LOT of, I find this tool the easiest and most reliable to use:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You could try putting the HDD into a different computer and see if it will sort itself out when it realises it's in a different machine. It has worked for me in the past.

If all else fails, stick it into another machine, use the main OS on the other machine to extract important and necessary files and format the HDD and restore it.

If you need any help just message me or add me to enable the chat feature on here. Pretty sure you'll know what you're doing though.

Best of luck!
