Take your time, 5 minutes isn't even long enough to shape out the basic outline of the hair.

Use multiple shades of the color your using to create depth and believable curves, use thinner lines for more available detail in the hair, use bigger dimensions for your pen-tool pieces to be able to use smaller lines without bad looking pixels. Good practice would to try to trace a picture of real hair, and try to get every detail in the picture in your piece. You want it to look as real as possible.

Not sure what else to include, but I'm sure you'll get more detailed feedback, from more experienced pentoolers.
