So I'm really curious like why doesn't Microsoft get rid of the names attached to accounts that haven't been used in years? And are they ever going to?

If someone had an an original gamertag and they got on for the first time in years and they find out their account doesn't exist any more that wouldn't be very fair wouldn't it.
