I tried re-doing a project I did a long time ago. I kind of forgot how to do the atmosphere so I wanted some input. I am not sure if it needs tweaking or not.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how photo realistic does this look? What needs changing?

What would you say needs to be fixed? I know something is off, but like more glow on the inside or what?

Well the crookedness is just lighting, but like bigger outwards or inwards? EDIT: got it fixed will update once it renders.

I think I got it. It looks a little hazy from this view but i think it looks good. I will update with a full video soon. The render time for these is in upwards or 4-5 hours per clip so it will take a few days for me to get a video put together.

well I would say it is far from realistic, just Google for pictures of Earth from space. You should be able to see where you went wrong. Most of the issues lie in the texturing.

Take a look at this picture for example (all credit for this image goes to whoever the rightful owner is, I just picked it off Google)

First please take a look at the clouds, focus on the depth they provide and the shadows they cast. You have your clouds flat, textured with the rest of the image. Give the clouds more depth and you will see a massive difference.

Another key aspect I want to touch base with it the coloration of the Earth in your image. It appears as though you simply used a world map image and wrap-ed it onto a sphere. As I re-direct your attention to the previously stated image, this time look past the clouds down to where the continents are. See them? they are much less noticeable than in your re-creation. This is in part due to the cloud coverage they are receiving, however the point still stands that you need to do some adjustment. AS well as the color of the image your wrapped onto the sphere. give it a little blue tint to it. I would go into more detail as of why, but I don't have the time. Best of luck, can't wait to see what you make.
