MERSEYSIDE Police announce officers are investigating the death of a 79-year-old man in Liverpool following a 'dog attack'.
The elderly man was attacked by the animal in his garden in the Clubmoor area of the city at around 8.40pm last night.
Police found an out of control dog which they later destroyed.
Two women aged 27, and 28, have been arrested under suspicion of an offence under the Dangerous Dogs Act, 1991.
A post mortem examination on the victim is due to take place later today.
Crime Scene Investigators are now carrying out forensic examinations at the scene of the attack, Richard Kelly Close in Clubmoor, a small cul-de-sac over the road from a public park.
Merseyside Police said in a statement, that officers were called to the scene around 8.40pm on Saturday.
When they arrived officers found the body of the man and they were confronted by a dog that was out of control, the statement said.
Armed officers attended at the scene and the dog was destroyed.
At this stage the breed of the dog is still to be established.
House-to-house inquiries are underway and Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene."

That's true, I own a dog and the very first thing i done was teach her not to bite people and not to jump on them.

That's horrible people should just keep there dog on a leash or if they go running about on a field and people are around make sure it's trained, so it doesn't attack or jump at people.

This goes to show that you need to control your animals, especially if they can be dangerous.

This shows that people really should always keep their animals on a leash, or some other form of restraint.
