so i installed BT5R3 live on a usb, booted from usb, did the whoel install to dual boot, i use grub 2, and when i boot into windows 7, it shows that i have about 300gb free of 350, but it doesnt show the other disc fr backtrack, when i partitioned, it worked, i can boot into backtrack, everything works, i can boot into windows 7, everything also works, but when i go to start>computer is doesnt show my partitioned part of the disc, how can i fix this?

within windows does your Disk Manager look like this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ? or is it only showing one drive partition? obviously your linux partition will not show up in my computer seeing as its ext3/4 and windows has no way of interacting with it.

you can with a little work get windows to be able to see ext file systems.

When I put it on a disk and booted up the disk I booted regular and hit startx when I needed too but it just goes to a blank dark screen, Help!?

windows will not show the ext partition it cannot use/detect it. though while booted into Linux ubuntu/BT you can see the windows filesystem and use it to some degree.

check your xserver settings or just use the terminal and not load into a GUI if your video card is not supported.
