Hey guys, I need a good laptop for producing music.

What I'm really focused on is 16gb of RAM, and a good Soundcard.

I know I don't need 16gb of ram, it's overkill, but Pro tools 11 is recommending 16gb of ram to run the program, and 8gb at it's lowest.

+Rep to anyone who can help me find a good laptop.

Are you using pro tools? or just using that as a guide

Most laptops have terrible soundcards, you would need to get an external soundcard, or buy one and install it yourself, i don't think there are any laptops specifically tailored to music production that have a great soundcard.

You would probably be fine with 8 GB of RAM, depends how many plugins and effects you are using within your DAW, I would go with 12 or 16 GB just to be safe

A large hard drive to hold your sample library (if it is large) would also be good, 1 TB+ would do, and having your OS installed on a SSD rapidly increases performance

Here are some I could come up with (you didn't put your price budget so I am just showing some of the best ones ):

If you live in the US:

^^^^^^^ Wish I could buy that, insane good specs for that price, sadly is only available to ship to US adresses, and I live in the UK If you are lucky enough to live in the US then I would recommend snapping that up ASAP, laptops with those specs cost like 2000 in the UK ($3,100 if you are american)

Thanks! Yes, I'm using Pro Tools 11. It's been a big software upgrade from pro tools 10 to 11, that's why I think it requires higher specs. I am building my own desktop computer, but I also do need a laptop xD
