TTT (Trouble In Terrorist Town) is really fun, it's sorta like CS:S but it's got some more features and has a different play style. Also try zombie survival, that's always fun if you are just starting because you don't know what the heck you are doing, and then figure it out.

The most played game modes are TTT (Trouble in Terriost Town) or DarkRP.
Also one that I play a lot is CityRP. It has 3 servers. 50 people allowed in each server. It is a roleplay server so you have to act like it is real life. I find this server very fun. There are people with over 1,000 hours and 2,000 hours on it.

If I were you I would try a "Build" server. Basically you get to join a server (typically on mp_flatgrass) and build anything you want whether it's a couch with wheels on it or a cannon that shoots watermelon.

TTT
Trouble in Terrorist Town(TTT) is a gamemode where there are Terrorists, Detectives, & Innocents. The terrorists job is to blend in with the innocents and kill without being seen. The Detective's job is to find out who the terrorists are. Finally, the Innocents job is to help the detectives find the terrorists and stay out of harms way. At the end, either the Innocents, or the Terrorists will win.

DarkRP
Dark Roleplay is a gamemode where you are meant to play out a life in a city. You are able to get jobs, have homes and shops, raid other homes/shops, and most of all, roleplay! Rules are VERY important on DarkRP so make sure to read them all. Three important rules are...

*RDM/Random Death Match- Killing someone without a valid RP reason(Valid RP Reason: Mugging, Raid, etc).

*Prop-Minging- The act of using a prop to fly, attack/kill, or do other things to the people of the server that give you and unfair advantage with a prop.

*NLR/New Life Rule- If you die, you are not allowed back at the location you died at for usually 3-10 minutes depending on how the server handles their NLR.


Sandbox
Think of Sandbox as a server where you are there to just build. The servers are friendly and no competitive aspects are in them what so ever.
