Not all plug ins are available and it says FTP file access is currently unavailable an idea on how i can upload plug ins myself?

That's is to be expected when trying to use built-in plugin managers. They are awful to be quite honest.
If FTP is currently unavailable, that's something to do with your host. Try using an external client, such as FileZilla, instead of the built in [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . If it still doesn't work then you will just have to wait until they sort it. Try submitting a support ticket to see what's going on.
