I love philosophy.
Could these be the same for the horizon? Walking towards the horizon to forever expand. @.@

Anyway, cut the religious bullsh*t. No one cares if you think it's true or false. I think your both idiots for being so closed minded and arguing over something not even relevant to the topic.

That's an interesting theory. It reminds me of this video: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Scientists believe the acceleration of the expansion of the universe is due to dark energy, but I'm not sure what to believe. The video suggests that matter itself is self aware. I'm sure we will never truly understand the universe.

Thats religion. This is a theory.

Obviously you're ignorant to the fact that "religion" (Christianity) has always been the truth, is the truth and will ALWAYS be the truth so lay off.

You do realize that Christianity was based of the beliefs of Judaism? Who's to says Jews aren't right? What about Muslims? What about the 30 different religions based off of Christianity? I suppose they are all wrong and your beliefs are the only ones that are right. Religion was created by man. We created it to make sense of our lives. Of why we exist. To explain the universe. It isn't a bad thing to believe in such things, but to say everyone's except for your beliefs are wrong is ignorant. That is why we have wars. That is why Christians in the dark ages massacred millions of people. People who think like you have always caused chaos in this world. You are so closed minded. You think you understand the nature of the universe with your religion. A religion that was created by man basically at the dawn of our civilization. I suppose you also believe the world is flat, and that Earth is the center of the universe. I'm not trying to diss on your beliefs but you are saying them as if they are fact. You do not know. You were not there. You have no proof. They are beliefs. Not fact.

Seriously- wrote That quote, to me I don't really understand it. I'm not all that good at astronomy/astrology but what I mainly known is that there's a blue shift and a red shift, the blue shift I believe is moving towards us while the red shift is moving away from us. So every thing in the universe is moving outwards, which makes it expand.

I have no clue if this really makes any sense.
( a bit tired so yeah )

Astrology? You know astrology is the idea that the movements of stars and planets has an influence on human affairs? E.g horoscopes. Astrology is a load of rubbish basically.

As interesting as this is, no this is not the actual reason the Universe is expanding. It is widely believed among astronomers that the reason the Universe is expanding is due to the Big Bang, or Big Inflation as some prefer to call it.

If you detonate some TNT, and stand a distance away from it, several seconds after the TNT is detonated, you will feel the shockwave. So think of it like this, the Universe is expanding is the shockwave from the original "explosion" of the Big Bang.

I never get these deep thinking, philosophical questions.

It just sounds like a lot of hoopla to me. :eh:

This is hardly a philosophical question... :sarcasm:

It's not even a question.
Look, we will NEVER know how far the universe goes on. It's simply too far of a distance to be seen with a couple pieces of glass for magnification.

This is simply saying what everyone said in the past, just at a larger scale. They thought if you looked out to sea and saw the horizon that was actually the end of the world. It just dropped.

So if we continue to see more and more of the universe, we realize what we thought was the end was actually the beginning of more objects to be found.

I get what you are saying, but at the same time, I don't think it's true. What comes to my mind, is what if the universe is like Earth, and trying to find the end of it is useless. What if we are just trapped, in some large ball of matter, and trying to find the end will have us end up exactly where we started.

Then please prove to me God exists. I want pictures please. And before you say anything else, RELIGION WAS JUST A THING TO GET PEOPLE TO BEHAVE GOOD. JUST LIKE SANTA, THE EASTER BUNNY, AND THE **** TOOTH FAIRY.

OT - You lost me in the first sentence, but after a few times, I started to get it. Seems pretty legit.
