Two of my housemates are music producers and DJs. This means that they constantly blast very loud music through good quality speakers. Unfortunately, our neighbours have called the police on us numerous times which resulted in a visit from them last week. They told me that because they have received so many noise complaints our house is a now a known problem, they reserve the right to seize their equipment and issue a fine if it continues. I have told my housemates this as they weren't in when the police visited. However, they are still continuing this. I have travelled back home for Easter to see my parents and have just logged into my Facebook page to see a picture of their equipment which they have tagged me in captioned, 'the neighbours are going to be annoyed with us!'. I have replied saying, 'You are paying the fine. The police also have the right to seize all of your equipment'. One of my housemates then replied saying, '**** the 5. 0.'

My concern is that if the police see fit they will seize all equipment they consider to be the problem. As that is also where I live, I have equipment there too. I think is unfair that the pair have that little respect for our neighbours, myself and our other housemates. I am constantly woken up at 5 in the morning following a night out with them two trying to DJ drunk.

Between the two they have a pair of KRK speakers, a Pioneer DDJ Ergo, a set of Technics and two MacBook Pros. This is easily in excess of 3,000 and could be taken from them.

What do you guys suggest I do about this? I obviously don't want to fall out with them as they are not just my housemates but also my friends. However, the more they continue, the more they annoy me and I am not the person to annoy. I am really struggling to continue biting my tongue and I'm worried that if this does continue, not only will our stuff be taken from us but we will fall out. I already smacked one of them last week for waking me up knowing I had a deadline for University the following morning. This was resolved but is only going to escalate.

I also love this forum. It really does take a weight off being able to rant.
