"Also: To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that theyre all nonsense literally the only reason weve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be" That is the message given by Rockstar when pressed to answer to the recent conspiracy theories about whether or not the delay was to prepare for a next gen console release. Unfortunately the September 17th push back is locked in but for now we can only wait.
Here are the 3 recent comments made by Rockstar.

"We understand many of you guys are disappointed with this news, the company wrote. Unfortunately sometimes such delays are necessary in all forms of entertainment, and especially in the case of a game experience as massive and complex as GTAV"

"However this does not give you free reign to be abusive in comments. The general rules of common courtesy, decency and behaviour as listed above the Comment Box still apply here, therefore anyone continuing to post abusive comments will have their privileges suspended"

They haven't said anything about the game not going to be for the new xbox and ps4, but it be pretty cool if this game was for the new nextgen console.

This was posted in the news forum.
I would rather it be released in next-gen consoles unless (most likely) OG & 360 games are going to be playable on XBL on the next gen consoles.

The Reason it was pushed back is because rockstar signed up with a professional gaming company that checks the game is perfect. So don't be to sure to see mods and glitches in
GTA V.

your an idiot if you say its going to be for next-gen consoles, as they already started selling it to xbox users (pre-order..)
