does anyone know why i have a red skull above my instant-kill?

it is the new insta kill you get it if you dont get a kill when you have a insta kill the red skull means you can walk into the zombies and they instantly die

If you pick up a normal insta kill and don't kill any zombies for the duration of it, then you get the red one, once you have that all you have to do is run into zombies and they die

Instakill pro all you have to do it touch a zombie and they die
