When I try to record anything with fraps or dxtory, it kills my framerate. I was just wondering if there was any good alternative out there that won't strain my cpu?

Won't find one, unless you buy an external recording device it is bound to happen. Recording to an SSD will decrease the drop in frames, but it is still very noticeable.

Hmm ok then. Thanks for the help. Any opinions on the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] I have heard it is great but also pretty pricy. Any advice on a cheaper solution?

That is currently the best of the best. This one is slightly cheaper, but it's worth it to pay a little more for the Live Gamer GD [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Hmm alright. This might be something to invest into after I replace my cpu. The cpu might do the trick with fraps though...

I'm running a Phenom ii x6 at 3.5GHz and Radeon 6970, and it is still extremely annoying trying to play and keep a playable FPS while recording
