Phone up your ISP and complain. It could be a problem at your end though so I would check everything before phoning them.

Restarting your modem and router will fix basic troubleshooting problems, give that a try and retest speed. If it's still the same then definitely give the ISP a call.

Your speed is highly dependent on where you live. My speed is always below your posted speed. You can try getting a new ISP, if that doesn't help... well then you're stuck with your speed.

You are paying for 50mbps d/l and getting DSL speed with excessive latency (ping/lag) I would definitely make a fuss. A reboot might clear up the latency and speed up your ping but it's not going to increase your d/l by 44mbps. It has to be equipment malfunction or they have you wrongfully throttled down. Only other explanation would be if the feeder cable to your area needs replacing, in which case, good luck. An ISP will usually lose customers rather than replace a feeder line ahead of schedule. It took me 6 months of complaining and finally cancelling my service and contacting their corporate office before Comcast finally replaced the feeder cable to our neighborhood. Find out if your neighbors are experiencing something similar. If so, have them call and complain as well.

Mine differs hugely, depending on time of the day. I think mine is an ISP problem, but seeing as I'm not in a fixed location 24/7, it'd be pointless to wring them up in spanish and speak to them when I'm off to England soon. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

But if I was you, I'd be wringing them up.

It's not always dependent on where you live btw.

Fibre optic speed isn't affected by distance whereas ADSL is.

Your speed is nearly the same as mine, but I have DSL.

But that ping of yours is horrible as well. Did you do a speed test to the closest server that is near your city?

You need to make sure that you have everything connected correctly and power-cycle your modem and router. If problem still persists, you should call your ISP, as you may need a technician to come and see what is wrong.

I get a reasonably high download but high ping as well. It's getting on my nerves... I need to speak to ISP about that.
