Ok so just a note before I begin this. If you are going to do this I recommend that
you either 1. are good at math
or 2. Have a calculator
Ok so I am making this because I have been using a sniper for a long time in this game and I
have done my research and learned all about it.
1.Choosing the right rifle
This is an important part in because you want to get one sniper and stick with it. If you choose a
new sniper than you are going to have to learn how to use that sniper. I am personly using the SV98.
All the sniper in this game include:
MK11
SVD
M40A5
SV98
M98B
M39
SKS
M82
Type 88
My personal favorite sniper is the M98B.
2.Calculating range with a mathematical equation
So this has a mathimatical formula that real snipers use while in the field.
The formula for calculating range is:
(1000XTARGET IN HEIGHTXBFC)
________________________________
HEIGHT IN MIL
BFC=.228
MIL=DASH ON SNIPER SCOPE
An example of the the X12 scope and the ranges of it are below:

Also there is an app on the Google Play store called BF3 Bullet Drop Calculator
3.Bullet Drop
One of the most important things to thing about when sniping in BF3.
I am always thinking about bullet drop. This is where calculating range can really help. If you have mastered
the step above(which takes a long time to do so, I have done this for about 11 months)
I have been able to figure out the range in less than 10 seconds now and I can figure out bullet drop pretty fast.
(Also if you call me a no life for being able to do math fast then please think about what you are really saying)
When figuring out bullet drop you need to know what the bullet drop of your scope is.
I use the X12 personaly and I have found an image online of the X12 drop
It is the same as the image above
Bullet drop is a very important part of sniping and a long one to master

Maybe a tip for the future before you get a warning...when you update a topic..just hit the edit button and revise your topic then post a comment saying something like "Updated" instead of making several topics
