I'm building a new PC becuase mine right now is quickly becoming a crap shoot. Stuck with >2.0 GHz and two gigs of ram. It isn't cutting the slack.

My budget is roughly $1,500. I have an idea but obviously it sucks and I'm an idiot so I'm looking for some advice. Here is the initial 'draft'.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($288.98 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($83.24 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($159.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($309.99 @ NCIX US)
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DG 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card ($24.00 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Gunmetal/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($104.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 550W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS90 DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Planar PX2710MW 27.0" Monitor ($209.99 @ Dell)
Keyboard & Mouse: Logitech Wireless Combo MK260 Wireless Standard Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($26.99 @ Adorama)

Total: $1624.32

This computer will be used as pretty much everything - lots of gaming, editing, heavy web browsing, rendering/uploading, etc.

Any tips are welcome, thanks if you post.

Downgrade your CPU to an i5 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

No performance in gaming or in anything that doesnt need Hyper Threading will be lost, 99% of people dont even use Hyperthreading.

And I would recommend getting either a 660 or a 670

Is the money for the 670 worth it over the 660, and will the 3570 keep up with heavy usage?

Yeah, I'd definitely say downgrade to an i5 and probably 8GB of ram instead of 16!

If I wanted a 27" monitor and the case I listed, would those be available with that build or would it destroy, budget wise?

You would go over budget. I suggest you take out my 2nd kit of 8GB ram and monitor.

An i5 will be good enough,no need for 16gb ram and the 670 is not worth the money over a 660 Ti because it will only deliver a few extra frames under certain circumstances.
