You may just laugh and think about blowing off saving for your future, but I'm here to tell you that the future does not look all that bright for the younger generations. The earlier you start, the better off you will be.

This is a one off thing so I couldn't afford to keep a car, therefore first two are out the window, medical? I get it for free (yay free medical care) not good at investing and I'm Scottish so the Roth IRA plan is useless, any other bright ideas?

Put it in the bank and watch it grow... oh wait, this is 2012. My bad. Just buy some gum or something.
Gee thanks a billion Mr, I'm going to go buy myself 1000's worth of gum, douche.

I would go to one of your local banks and ask about what mutual funds or investment options are available. I don't know much about the UK banking and tax laws so I'm not much help there. Just going out and "Buying" things makes you "feel good", but you will see that later on you don't need what you bought. I would look into gold or silver. Precious metals are always a good investment. I started out young with the help of my grandfather and dad, and have never regreted it. It has been my experience that most people don't think about saving money or investing. Now that I am older I wish that I had saved more money. You should do what makes you happy, but I just wanted you to get another point of view. An alternative to all of this is to just open up a savings account and just let it sit for a while. There are always times in life when you need some money, either for an emergency, holidays, gifts...etc

Have you not read any previous responses, 1 I don't go to school and 2 I have a brand new one.

I would recommend keeping it until there is something you really actually want to buy, not just buying because you need money.

So you aren't creative enough to come up with your own idea, but you criticize literally every suggestion we gave you?

Textbook TTG Thread.

You could buy something you could make a living off of such as:
- a high end computer(youtube, coding, etc...)
- University courses to get a PHD
- or save it and all the extra money you get put it all together!

Best advice I can give you bud. Hope I helped.
