basically, i bought mw2 for pc a few months back but my pc couldnt handle it, so for the past few months iv not attempted to go on, but a couple of days ago my mum bought a new pc and it can play mw2, but iv noticed AlterIwnet is "dead"? and there is a new thing called AlterRev but there are no tutorials that i can find that i can understand or show a step by step tutorial, and basically i was wondering if someone on here can show me a step by step tut on how to get online on MW2 again!
also the only reason i bought it was because i saw videos on youtube that Zombies, a popular modded gamemode was still available on pc, and i wanted to play it, so if you can show me how i can get into those modded zombie gamemodes aswell thats a real bonus
i will rep anyone who can give me a step by step tutorial on how to get online, thank you in advance for anyone who helps i am really annoyed about this!

In order to play AlterRev, you need to first have an account. You can create one [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .
Next, you need to download the client. You can do that [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . That's the exact same link they use in their downloads page, only directed.
Now, you've got a choice. If you only want to play AlterRev and want to ditch vanilla MW2, just extract everything in the folder named "alterRevolution Client" to your MW2 main directory (on Steam, that's Program Files > Steam > steamapps > common > Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2). It's fine to copy and replace files & merge folders.
Alternatively, if you still wish to play vanilla MW2, copy your entire MW2 directory (as seen above) to anywhere else you can access it, then extract the alterRevolution Client folder's contents into the new MW2 folder. Again, it's fine to copy and replace files & merge folders. Remember, MW2 is 12 GB, so copying the root folder might take a few minutes.
Now go into your modified MW2 folder again and find the file named 'alterIWnet.ini'. Rename it to "aRev.ini". If you don't name it properly, any settings here will not take effect.
We're almost done; open up the newly renamed 'aRev.ini' file with Notepad. Where it says "Nickname= NameHere", replace "NameHere" with any nickname of your choosing.
Finally, launch the 'iw4m2p' file and you're in the game.
If you so choose, you can create a shortcut to the iw4m2p file and put it in your desktop for ease of access, or you can add the game to Steam and it will automatically let your friends know when you're playing.
