Ok i just got a desktop, And we have a wireless router, And my down stair desktop can get wire fi from it, But i can't, Is it because i need to get a adpater for it, Please help

First, make sure its a router and not a modem or a switch. (alot of people make this problem)
Second, if it is a router. Make sure the wifi is turned on. (you can use the config page online)
Third, if it is on, make sure your firmware is updated by going to the manufacturer website and downloading any updates that are needed.
Fourth, be sure the desktop/laptop you are using HAS wifi built in or a card attached.
Fifth, if none of this works, get a usb adapter (that works with your router), or if the router is the problem id say return it or send it for repair.
