VEVO wrote I'm guessing this is off a pre-build? Or are you actually making one by hand? Phenom IIs are old. They run off AM3 nomenclatures which are no longer supported and they already have AM3+ which is what is officially supported now. As for the FX series, you'd be better off. They are still supported and are faster than the old AM3 series CPUs.

Im making this by hand. I was just asking because i see quite of few people using Phenom II instead of FX. I had a whole mind set on what to get with intel, but its just so much cheaper to go with AMD, but besides that making me go to AMD, something else wanted me to go with AMD instead so i went with it.
In my opinion, if you do plan on going with an AMD build, make sure it's the latest socket type. If you plan on doing some hefty gaming you'll need it. Since you have the latest socket, you'll have more room for upgrades, if the time ever comes.

Yeah i have an AM3+ CPU. This is the one i was looking at for FX [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .
Keep in mind that that's a whopping 125 watt CPU. Once you add the wattage of everything else up you'll end up needing a pretty hefty power supply to power it all.

yeah i know, thats kind of the only downside of amd, you think 550w pau will suit its needs
Depends. I must know all the other things you plan on putting on it. Give me your specs list. Also, newegg has a pretty accurate wattage calculator here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

That power supply SHOULD suffice but being that it's nearly on the cap, it might create some stress on the power supply. To be on the sure side I'd go for a power supply of at least 600 watts. And keep in mind, if you ever plan on doing some upgrades you'll always have that higher wattage power supply there and you won't have to worry about buying another one to keep up with your new tech. I have a 750 watt in mine (total overkill) but whenever I have to do those upgrades, it'll be there and it'll save you a good $80 or so. I looked at your RAM, your motherboard support DDR3 1866 RAM. Why not take advantage of that? Here's a list of some: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Yes, they do cost a bit more but I think it'll be worth it. Besides that, your specs are all good. I like your case by the way. Very sleek design.

Thanks. I chose the ram i showed you because it was a budget build. A mere $10 wont really make much of a difference so i can do that.

Also, one last thing I remembered was fans. Your case comes with a rear and top mounted one. Although that'll be fine, you might want to pick up 1 or 2 extras to mount in the front, top, or bottom. And if you plan on overclocking a better heatsink will likely be necessary. Remember, cooling is key. No one wants a BSOD in the middle of the best part of your game because your graphics card had a seizure. Lol.

Im not planning on OC but i am getting a better Heatsink and some Thermal compound. I may not get the heatsink right away though so i can get more money, but i will be getting thermal compound with it. If you want to know them, they are these

The CPU comes with a heatsink so you'll be fine. A heatsink isn't truly necessary if it's not going to be OCd unless it's going to be stressed. Nice choice on the compound. Have fun with your build. It's a nice setup.
