Its not a skill system. It is a level system with each specialization. Skill will not play a role in you ranking up. It will help you get more exp but not anything else. And to switch specializations you have to get level 50 in that specialization.

I was thinking the same thing. I was glad to hear 1-50 ranking system is back, but when I heard it was not based on true skill I was disappointed. I was a big fan of halo 3's ranking system. I didn't really enjoy the ranking system of Reach, but it was fun to play. It looks like what 343 is doing is combining Halo 3 and Halo reach's ranking system together. It will be interesting to play, but I still wish it was based on true skill.
