ok so i have a laptop and am looking to upgrade my ram for minecraft. so i need help with this ok so they sell rams in pairs EX.4gb(2gbx2). so do i need to buy the pair or can i buy a single 2gb and use the one currently inside my laptop. any help will rep most helpful answer oh and if its important my laptop is a toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 and it has a max of 4gb ram

you can as long as it fits the dimm slot in your laptop and is compatible but if you have a laptop with an i3,i5, or i7 ram runs the best in pairs because it makes use of the processors dual channel capabilities. ex if you bought 1 new stick and kept the old it wont be as good as having 2 new sticks even if it's the same amount of ram.
