a quad core intel can outperform a 6core AMD CPU even when the clock speeds are identical

Depends on your budget, They both are good, I Like them both.

But if i was going to spend a little more money, I Would go with Intel.

Good lord, I'm sure when he asked this question he wasn't expecting all of this. But in all seriousness AMD or Intel both have their strong suites and their weak suites, but you've left us in the dark in terms of what your budget is and what you're using it for (which I presume is gaming). But for the love of God if you're going to get an AMD don't get the FX series.
