Just don't spend more than the value of the car on audio equipment. Do you know the history of the car? The pre-2000 Grand Am's are fairly reliable, but I'd worry about spending that much on a car only for it to break down. Are you installing the equipment yourself? Store installation usually costs quite a bit. Say your car does break down. Are you going to let that investment go to waste, or remove it? By what means?
