So can anyone give me a bit of advice on this game, tips etc. do you rank up? prestige?
i know i am going to get my pants pulled down when i start because im aware the buttons are totally different and i dont know the maps at all.

You should have a blast playing BF3! I was the same as you. Ranking up in BF3 isn't really that hard. But you must be a Team Player depending on what kit you use. There are 4 kits. Assault, Support, Engineer, & Recon. If you use the Assault, throw health packs and revive teammates. Support, throw down ammo packs for your teammates. Engineer, take down enemy vehicles and repair teammates vehicles when needed. Recon, put down spawn beacons and SOFLAMS to help engineers take down air-born vehicles. Just have fun too. Haha

If you really want to level up fast then join some team deathmatch games or play some rush and go for the objectives. Otherwise just remember to help your team and go for the objective.

One of the most important thing to remember about Battlefield is that your Win/Loss Ratio is much more important then your Kill/Death Ratio
