okay, i have a hp dv7 (the i7 1tb hdd) laptop. I have a broken screen and currently using a moniror.
its infected with virus' and i am wanting to do do a factory restore but when i try the monitor doesn't turn on and i cant see anything without it.

Today i tried turning it on, i turned it on but the monitor doesnt show. i look at my 3/4 broken screen and see that it's black and wont go to the start up screen.

ive tried a hp bios update a hard reset and ctrl+alt+delete but none of that works. any help?

Take out your hard drive, power it on with the monitor already plugged in, you should get a POST beep saying failed boot cannot find windows trying to boot windows or something along those lines. Basically it's to test if your monitor is working without the virus on it, then if it does work you could either plug in your HDD, it will try and boot it, if it does then you could try a factory restore if the monitor works. If your monitor works but when you plug the HDD back in it doesn't you could keep the HDD removed, put in a Windows install CD get it to where you need to have a HDD, plug the HDD back in and format it, then just continue with a new windows install.

These are things off the top of my head, I'm not sure if they'll work but hopefully they'll do something for you.

If you don't know how to get your HDD out just google 'how to removed hdd on whatevercomputeryouhave' I'm guessing you have internet connection and a computer of some sort as you have created this thread.
