I think it's by choice. Just wondering, but why would you ask this?

I say it's a choice, as it isn't exactly genetic like eye color, hair color, and blood type is it? I know a few people who grew up straight, and had drunken things with other people of the same gender, then realized they were gay/lesbian. I don't see how people with no gay/lesbian family members can have homosexuality genes passed down.

To give a basic example from biology, genes are generally X and Y chromosomes, X being male and Y being female, the female chromosomes are more dominant than males (i think) and for something to be true about you, you need at least two of these genes, i.e. if brown hair is X and blonde hair is Y, if someone had 3 X chromosomes and 1 Y chromosome, then evidently they would have brown hair. For homosexuality to be a gene, someone would need to have at least 2 Y chromosomes (assuming X is straight and Y is homosexual) therefore the homosexuality genes would be more dominant, while the straight genes would be recessive, and for that to happen both parent would need to have the gene themselves, which would come around to a 1 in 4 chance of the child being homosexual.

Bit of a rant, but yeah, thats the brains between what you are talking about there.

its genetic because my teacher told my whole class an event in the past about a man who thought that he could take two twin boys and have one of them a girl. so he cut off the tip of the other boys penis and the parents made him dress like a girl and all of that shit and when the boy was finally a man at the age of 18 he told the media that nothing worked in this huge experiment at all and that he would like to live his life how he wants with a new restarted fresh. so therefore i believe that its genetic

It would have to lean more towards genetics, for the simple fact is that chemicals in your brain is what would be the cause of liking a male or female.

Revzy wrote Its not genetics. Sexual attraction can be turned towards a certain gender at a young age. Its how we are brought up and how we grow up

Not really the way you were brought up, how come a lot of gay people have been brought up to believe gays are disgusting etc and are then afraid to 'come out' and admit it to their parents that they are actually gay.
