Hi.
My message, through this threead is that "Screamo" is not a Genre.

The Term "Screamo" was coined back in the 1990's, when bands began to experiment with a deeper, Raspier Vocal technique that is now classified as "Growling".
It had a massive surge of popularity in 02' - current, when Punk adapted an occasional "Scream".
This led those who enjoyed the occasional scream, to hear of bands who would scream through
their whole entire song, and what was before a small underground Sub-Genre of punk, was now a popular Genre.

To Clarify, here are a few Genre's people can mistake for "Screamo"...
Alternative Metal
Ambient Pop
Black Metal
Crunk
Crunkcore
Deathcore
Death Metal
Death Rock
Extreme Metal
Garage Punk
Grind Core
Grunge
Grunge Hardcore
Hardcore Punk
Melodic Hardcore
Pop Punk
Post Grunge
Post Hardcore
Post Metal
Street Punk
and more....

When people generalize metal as "screamo" it gets on my god-damn nerves. Was Listening to Amon Amarth in a class a few months back, and basically everyone in my class agreed within themselves that it was "screamo" music, bunch of dumbs***s that they were...

The conversation that sparked this thread, was between me and my GF.
She listens to it to, and she calls it scremo.

According to people I listen to screamo, when I listen to music such as Slipknot, Enter Shikari, The Devil Wears Prada and so on.

It justs annoys me how ignorant people are.
